Dear Working Mother,
It seems like Christmas 2021 just left us, and yet here we are again; scrambling last minute to provide your family with a picture-perfect Christmas. Social media has been particularly cruel this year, with your feed filled with stunning family photographs, spotless homes and picturesque Christmas decorations. And yet, here you are, barely able to get your Christmas Tree out of storage. In addition to all this, all the Winter bugs have meant that everyone has been off sick at work, and as a result it is busier for you than it ever has been.
The pressure of this Christmas feels immense; and yet, when you look at your children, all you want to do is give them everything. Your list is endless. You have Christmas cards up to your eyeballs, teachers to buy presents for, decorations to put up, School discos, Christmas raffles, Christmas jumper day, Nativity plays, Carol services and the Christmas food shop. This is meant to be a fun filled time of the year, and you are filled with anxiety and overwhelm.
All we want to say here at Mamo & Mono, is that what you’re doing is already good enough.
If you don’t get a chance to write all the cards, don’t worry, nothing bad will happen. If you haven’t had a change to wrap all the presents (and therefore gone on to place them into a gift bag), don’t worry, your children will still love them just as much. And, if you haven’t managed to buy a gift for your child’s teacher, don’t worry, you can get them something special at the end of the year. And, finally, if you haven’t been able to buy any pings in blankets, it’s ok, your Christmas dinner will be just as nice.
All that matters this Christmas is that you spend time with your family. Simply spending time with your children will be more than enough. Have lots of conversations, watch movies, read stories and give them lots of hugs.
So, to you mother, you will have a wonderful Christmas. Don’t worry about the picture perfect Christmas, because yours will be one full of lifelong memories, and that is much more important.
Team Mamo & Mono
xoxo
