This letter is to all the mothers who have had a long week, have battled through a challenging bedtime, and just want to switch off in the evening. This is for all the mothers who have had children climb on their body all day, who have had to repeat themselves multiple times throughout the day and for those who have squashed spaghetti on the floor.
Below is the article ‘To The Exhausted Working Mother, Who Stays Up Way Too Late Just To Watch One More Episode.….We Understand.’
Dear Mama,
We’ve all been there, a busy non-stop day with the children, no time to sit, cooking, laundry, cleaning and when you have finally gotten them to bed the house is eerily silent. The silence is beautifully unnatural. You have spent the whole day in a state of chaos that you haven’t even heard your thoughts until this moment. You have not had your own personal space until this moment. Just reaching this point is a huge achievement which deserves some sort of medal; because when you were woken this morning at 5.47am, you were not sure that you were going to make it.
Once you have managed to feed and water yourself, you sit and take some time to unwind.
You tune into your favourite show, just for a few minutes you tell yourself, but before you know it the next episode has automatically loaded, and this soon turns into watching 4 full episodes.
And despite knowing that you are completely out of control at this point, you continue to sit there and glare at the screen, immersing yourself into another world.
The truth is, this is what you need to do to get through to the next day, and you know that it doesn’t make sense as you understand you will be even more sleep deprived. However, despite this, you need time to clear and reset your mind.
The entire day you have had to be on high alert, and you now finally have the chance to unwind and just be you.
By giving yourself the time to clear your mind, it allows you to be a better parent to your child. Every mother on this earth needs and deserves a break. You are an amazing and wonderful mother.
We hope that you enjoyed this open letter ‘To The Exhausted Working Mother, Who Stays Up Way Too Late Just To Watch One More Episode.…. We Understand.’
We understand why you need to stay up late, but we also hope that you can catch up on some sleep!
