This article is about Mother’s Day Songs.
Mother’s Day is special. A whole day dedicated to the mothers in your life. This is a day to shower all the wonderful mothers out there with love and affection.
And for those who do not have their mothers in their life, we are sending you lots of hugs, love and peace.
Here at Mamo & Mono, we would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Mother’s Day, and here are our favourite Mother’s Day Songs.
Below is the article ‘The 7 Most Sentimental Mother’s Day Songs to Give You all the Emotions’.
1. Mama, Spice Girls
This beautiful song by one of our favourite girl groups sums up the highs and lows of the relationship between a mother and her child. We love how they describe their journey with their mothers from their younger years to adulthood, and how they now understand that what their mothers did was for the best.
2. Where You Lead, Carole King
Hearing this song immediately makes you think of the ultimate mother-daughter combo that is Rory and Lorelai Gilmore. This song is their anthem. The Gilmore Girls is one of our favourite bingeable shows. We can’t get enough of them and their wonderful and unique bond. Watching them is like watching your best friends on TV.
3. Slipping Through My Fingers, ABBA, Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia! 2008)
This song by ABBA, but re sung by Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep, was performed in a beautiful scene on Sophie’s (played by Amanda Seyfried) wedding day in the film Mamma Mia! This song describes the close bond between mother and daughter, but also recognises that she has grown and now it is time for her to start spreading her wings. An emotional time for any parent to realise that they have to take a little step back and to allow their child live life.
4. A Mother’s Prayer, Celine Dion
This incredible song is stunning. Celine Dion has one of the most beautiful, calm and heavenly voices of our time. This song truly speaks to your soul. She sings about a mother’s prayer for her daughter, one which will keep her safe as she goes through life.
5. Photograph, Ed Sheeran
Here at Mamo & Mono we love a good Ed Sheeran song, furthermore, we love a good Ed Sheeran music video even more! The music video for this song perfectly sums up love, support and sacrifices his parents put into raising him. This video is a stark reminder that the childhood years are fleeting and children grow so quickly.
6. Bye Bye, Mariah Carey
This song is for those who have lost mothers, grandmothers, Godmothers, aunties or mother figures. Mariah, with her angelic voice, sings about losing loved ones and the heartbreak of saying bye. This song is for those who were loved, have departed from this earth, but will never be forgotten.
7. Blue ft. Blue Ivy, Beyoncé
Beyoncé sings about her relationship with her baby daughter Blue, and her experiences as a new mother. This powerful song describes the unbreakable bond that she feels with her daughter. We especially love hearing Blue’s precious voice at the end!
