This article is for all the working mothers out there who are struggling to keep up with the demands of working and being present for their children.

Trying to keep up with society’s expectations of mothers can leave one with feelings of inadequacy. Growing up you were sold the dream that you could do and be anything, and you could do it all at the same time. Unfortunately, the reality has felt different.

Multiple times a day you feel like you are falling short. Falling short at work or at home.

You live your life in cycles of guilt.

In addition, there is an expectation that you must not let yourself go, you must have a perfect home and perfectly cooked meals. It is simply not possible to live up to these unattainable expectations, and we hope that you can be kind to yourself and not attempt to ‘do it all’. Having children is a wonderful gift, but it does come at a cost, a cost to yourself.

We know that for some mothers, when the child is born, they can lose themselves.

Finding your way back to yourself after having a child is a journey, and one needs to be patient with themselves on this journey. We know that we can’t fix all your problems, but we are here to tell you that we understand the transition you are going through. Despite all the pressure you are under and all the setbacks you have face, you continue to show up at work and for your children.

You are an extraordinary human being, even if you can’t see it yourself.
