This is a poem for mothers lost in motherhood.
I don’t look the same
I don’t feel the same
I feel exhausted all the time
Motherhood crashed over me like a seismic wave
The process, although beautiful, was brutal
On the outside it seems as if I have everything together
But on the inside, everything is falling apart
I gained this magnificent wonderous baby
But lost me in the process
No longer able to finish a sentence
No longer able to hear my own thoughts
Somehow amongst this fog, I have set on a journey to find myself again
What did I enjoy doing before?
What were my hopes, aspirations and dreams?
Where is the younger me?
Who am I?
No matter where you are on your motherhood journey, there is a way back to finding you.
It will take time, it will take patience, and the process may even be painful, but somehow you will start putting pieces of you back together.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, you will soon find what you are looking for.
