Let’s be honest, most of us are not going to stick to our New Years Goals.
At the beginning of the year we are full of motivation, but then our energy starts to dwindle very quickly. Here at Mamo & Mono, we have offered some simple goals to try to stick to in the New Year.
We hope that you find them useful and they help you be kinder to yourself in the coming year.
Below is the article ‘8 Simple New Years Goals to Help You be Kinder to Yourself as a Mother’
1. Forgive yourself quickly and easily.
As a mother you’re going to make mistakes.
Often it can feel like the end of the world, or that you’ve let yourself down. We are all human, and mistakes happen. Forgive yourself and move on.
You’re doing better than you think you are.
2. Don’t feel guilty if you have to rest.
This is that mum guilt creeping in.
The constant need to do everything and to be everything to everyone. Sometimes it can become too much, and you need to have a break. Resting is your body’s way of telling you that you need to recharge.
Take that break, you will feel so much better for it.
3. It is ok to not be perfect.
Let this year be the year of done over perfect.
Sometimes just completing a task is enough, sometimes you don’t need to go above and beyond to make it perfect. Perfection can add an extra burden and stress to you as a mother.
Sometimes just completing the task is enough.
4. Just Keep Going.
Some days you might not feel like you are making a difference to your children, or that you are making a difference at work.
Sometimes you don’t see any improvements.
We are here to tell you that you are improving, and to just keep going. Just keep taking one step at a time. Don’t look too far into the future. Just look at the next step ahead.
You will get there.
5. Do Whatever Little You Can.
Whatever you can do is enough.
If you have only 25% to give one day and all you can do is 10%, then that is more than enough.
Even if you do the bare minimum that is still progress.
6. Stay away from those who make you feel bad.
Sometimes you have to stay away from those who make you feel bad about yourself.
Sometimes you have to stay away from those who speak negatively.
You only have so much mental space as a mother, fill it with as much positivity as possible.
7. Being present with your child is better than being perfect.
There are some days where you will be able to get your children up and out, and others where you stay in all day watching TV.
These may not seem like perfect parenting days, but these days are more than enough for your child. All they want is to be around you.
8. Don’t compare yourself to others.
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Others may look like they have everything together, they may look like they have the perfect home, the perfect children, the perfect set up, however, unless you are walking in their shoes you do not know what things look like behind the scenes.
The best thing for your own sake is to focus on yourself and to do what is best for you.
Your life is perfect for you.
We hope that these new years goals are helpful to you going into the new year. Let this year be the one that you keep going one step at a time, and one where you are kinder to yourself. You have come this far when you didn’t know how you would. You are doing a wonderful job.
