From the moment a woman becomes pregnant she is a mother; and from there a wild journey begins. As beautiful as motherhood is, it can also be chaotic and complicated. Here at Mamo & Mono we have written some motherhood poems that we hope you can relate to.
Below is the article ‘3 Truthful Motherhood Poems that are Realistic and Relatable to the Modern Mother’
Perfectly chaotic
She thought she had had it all worked out
She thought that she knew what was coming
She prepared everything during pregnancy
Perfectly washed and ironed clothes
A picture-perfect nursery
Then he came…
Everything turned upside down and inside out
His screams penetrated all corners of her home
Tears ran down both their eyes
Then out of nowhere
Suddenly he looked up at her
Touched her face
And gave her the biggest toothless grin she ever did see
At this very moment she knew she was exactly where she needed to be
He was exactly what they needed and didn’t even know
The most perfectly chaotic beautiful precious baby she ever did she

Before having your first child, it is often easy to feel that you are fully prepared, and you have covered all your bases. The reality of having a child is far from different. From the moment your child is born your world is turned upside down. You have no time to think, no time to shower, no time to get dressed and you struggle to even string a sentence together. The newborn period is a time like no other. However, in those first weeks amongst the mayhem, there will be moments of true bliss. Moments that stay a lifetime and define your reason for living.
The School Pick Up
Tired
Worn out from work
Waiting in line to collect you
I wonder what you did today?
Then I see you waiting in line
Our eyes fix and we both smile
You wave frantically
You cross the classroom threshold and run into my arms
You scream mummy
You run as if you want to tell me the world
We hug for a few seconds and time stops
We walk home hand in hand
Nothing and everything said with our silence
Our love for each other is unspoken

It is often easy to feel guilty as a working mother. A feeling that you are not doing enough or that you aren’t enough for them. However, your child still loves and adores you. To your child, seeing you at the end of a school day (whether the pick-up or bedtime) is the ‘best thing ever’. They love you just as much regardless of whether you are a working mother or stay at home mother. They do not know the difference; they only know love.
No time to think
Wake up
Wash face
Brush teeth
Get dressed
Make breakfast
Wake him up
Get him ready
He eats
Put on coat
Shoes
Scarf
Hat
Open door
Close door
Get to school
Back home
Work
Running late
Go to school
Wait in line
Pick him up
Home
Snacks
Dinner
Homework
Bath
Book
Bed
Clean
Cook
Eat
Bath
Bed
No time to stop
No time to think
Wake up and repeat

Just as the title of this poem suggests, motherhood is in fact a time where ‘there is no time to think’. It seems that the demands of the working mother are beyond comprehension. To have to do it all and be all to everyone. It is true that most days are non-stop, however, in time, as they grow this will become less and less demanding. And, one day, when you are older and wiser, you will look back at this time with such love and appreciation. So, to the working mother who feels like she is overwhelmed, you are doing a great job, keep persevering, and things will improve in time. You can do this.
Thank you for reading ‘3 Truthful Motherhood Poems that are Realistic and Relatable to the Working Mother’. We hope that you could relate to these poems. Being a working mother is challenging, but we know that you can do this, and we will continue to cheer you on the best we can.
